Elton John played his final concert on July 8, 2023, but what does that mean for new music in the future? The iconic singer-songwriter addressed the question during a visit to The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Tuesday night (December 17).
First, he gushed about being retired. “It’s the most fantastic thing in the world," the Rocket Man confessed. "I ended on a high – my voice was great, the piano playing was great, the band was great."
“There are other things I want to do with my life that are more important than touring,” he added.
Then he assured fans that retiring from touring doesn't mean he's retiring from making music. The 77-year-old vowed that he was “still gonna make records” and “have a musical future” while he spends more quality time with his family.
“You will be getting some more [music],” John promised. “The juices have never dried up. They never want to dry up because I’m always looking to create things. It’s just having the space now to do it at my own time.”
And just in case there was still any confusion, he ended the conversation with a definitive statement: “Of course there will be new Elton John music.”
